Çinli Yeni “Sol” İktisatçılardan akademisyen Prof. Cheng Enfu ve arkadaşlarının inisiyatifi ile başlayan bu oluşum— Dünya Marksist Ekonomi Politikçiler Derneği (WAPE) Batılı sol kanat iktisatçıların katılımı ile dünyadan yüzlerce üyenin katılımı ile 2006 yılında kurulmuştu. WAPE, Dünya Politik Ekonomi Birliği tüm dünyadan farklı görüş ve yönelimlerden sol-kanat Marksist ekonomi-politikçileri bir araya getirmeyi amaçlıyor. Üye ve destekçiler arasında Çin, Güney Afrika, Vietnam, Küba, Laos, Mısır, ABD, İngiltere, Fransa, İtalya, Almanya, Brezilya, Türkiye, Meksika, Rusya, Hindistan, Avustralya ve Kanada’dan akademisyenler bulunuyor.
Derneğin aynı zamanda World Review of Political Economy (Dünya Ekonomi Politik Değerlendirme) isimli İngilizce bir dergi çıkarıyor. WAPE her yıl ilkbaharda farklı ülkelerde toplanarak yıllık bir Forum toplantısı düzenliyor. Forum her toplantısında belirli temalar seçerek bu temalar üzerinde sunumlar ve tartışmalar düzenliyor.
Ekonomik Analizi Yeniden Düşünmek: Ekonomi Politiğin Perspektifi
Bu yıl yapılacak Forum’un teması Ekonomik Analizi Yeniden Düşünmek: Ekonomi Politiğin Perspektifi, Foruma dünyanın 36 ülkesinden çoğu akademisyen ve bir kısmı politik eylemci olan ünlü isimler panel sunumlarına katılacaklar.
Panel sunumlarına katılacaklar arasında, Türkiye’den yurtdışında ve yurtiçinde akademide çalışan Mustafa Erdem Sakinc, Güney Işıkara, Ertugrul Ahmet Tonak, gibi isimler mevcut. Bu yılki toplantıya Türkiye’deki siyasi çevreden Dr. Doğu Perinçek ve Vatan Partisi’nden 5 öğretim görevlisi ve Teori Dergisi Baş Editörü Kuntay Gücüm, Kuşak Yol Dergisi sorumlusu Adnan Akfırat gibi isimler katılıyor. Bu isimlerin katılacağı panelde, “Türkiye’de Gerileme ve Olası Yeniden Yükselişin Ekonomi Politiği: Gelişmekte Olan Dünya İçin Dersler.
